25th March 2015 179 Guillemots on survey ledges

North west wind. Broken cloud, sometimes more cloud than sky, sometimes more blue sky than cloud. A thin veil of rain to the east. Skylarks singing. Ponies north of quarter wall. Cattle in middle park. Almost every soay ewe has a lamb, the older lambs gambolling in small groups. As I headed west from the main track near Tibbetts a Peregrine was flying north and low. Great Black-backed Gull on the buttress above Grand Falls Zawn. Only small numbers of Guillemots today perhaps due to the cold, clear night.

When I first arrived above Grand Falls Zawn there was a raft of 100 auks near a red buoy on the south side of the cove. One Grey Seal was swimming south of St Mark's Stone. A red fishing boat was heading north about a half mile from shore.
