Where to see Common Dolphins in North Devon
Three species of cetaceans are regular visitors to the seas around North Devon: the Harbour Porpoise, the Bottle-nose
Dolphin, and the Common Dolphin. They can been seen from the shore or from a boat, you just have to be lucky - be the
right place in the right time.
I saw these common dolphins on the boat from Lundy to Bideford. It was a lovely sunny day and the water was like a mill-pond.
A line of dolphins crossed the path of the boat, half of them one side of the boat, half the other. This was the only photo
that turned out ok, the camera settings were completely wrong. I'd been taking shots of comb-jellys by the jetty at Lundy
before we departed so all the other shots were much too dark. Still, I'm pleased with this one.
